New workshop: PROTECT-CHILD

SpliTech 2027 hosts the workshop Secure Processing Environments for Federated Health Research: The PROTECT-CHILD Approach.

Collaborative health research requires access to sensitive data distributed across institutions, while preserving confidentiality, institutional control and accountability. The workshop explores the Secure Processing Environment (SPE) approach being developed within PROTECT-CHILD, a European project supporting collaborative research in paediatric transplantation. The architecture brings computation to data, so that authorised analyses can run across participating institutions without a central repository of patient-level data.

Topics include:

  • Isolated execution environments, identity and access management, and Zero Trust principles
  • How an analysis is authorised, executed and traced, and how its outputs are assessed before release
  • Clinical data harmonisation using OMOP and FHIR, federated statistical analysis, genomic and epigenetic workflows, and collaborative AI model development
  • Alignment with the European Health Data Space

The workshop has its own EDAS track for paper submissions. The conference takes place on June 14-17, 2027.
